Results: Pipe Band Example
Given the following occurring at one event:
3 pipe bands: Band A, Band B, and Band C
3 Adjudicators: Adjudicator 1, Adjudicator 2, Adjudicator 3
2 competition categories: March-Strathspey-Reel (bands A, B, and C) and Quick March Medley (only bands A and B)
... and the following results (as per the adjudicators' direct ranking)
March-Strathspey-Reel: bands A, B, and C (therefore N = 3)
The inverted ranking would be as follows:
The addition of inverted ranked points are as follows:
Band A: 8
Band B: 4
Band C: 6
Therefore the MSR prizes are as follows
1st prize: Band A (8 inverted ranking pts)
2nd prize: Band C (6 inverted ranking pts)
3rd prize: Band B (4 inverted ranking pts)
Quick March Medley: only bands A and B (therefore N = 2)
The inverted ranking would be as follows:
The addition of inverted ranked points are as follows:
Band A: 4
Band B: 5
Band C: 0
Therefore the QMM prizes are as follows
1st prize: Band B (5 inverted ranking pts)
2nd prize: Band A (4 inverted ranking pts)
The event's overall prizes for the pipe bands (competition entity = pipe bands) would be determined by adding the inverted rankings, as follows:
Band A: 8 + 4 = 12
Band B: 4 + 5 = 9
Band C: 6 + 0 = 6
Therefore the event's overall pipe band prizes are as follows
1st prize: Band A (12 inverted ranking pts)
2nd prize: Band B (9 inverted ranking pts)
3rd prize: Band C (6 inverted ranking pts)
