Instrument Failure

In the event of instrument failure or malfunction during a performance (e.g. burst drum, burst pipe-bag, reed malfunction, broken drumstick, etc.):

• • Should the loss of a player(s) during performance result in a number of players below the minimum requirements, the player shortage rules will come into effect.

  • Should the competing entity continue to play with defective instruments, it should not automatically be disqualified or placed last. Instead, adjudicators should take this into account in assessing the performance.

  • Should the competing entity discontinue their performance, it should automatically be disqualified.
