Joining the Board: Member pipe bands can become part of the Board by naming a band Representative and Substitute Representative. Consequentially, band Representatives are eligible to form part of the Executive Committee.
Participation: Member pipe bands can take part of all events and activities organised by the Association or organised by third parties and sanctioned by the Association.
Voting: Member pipe bands can vote on all matters pertaining to the Association through their band Representative, taking the following into account:
Initial non-voting period: New member pipe bands will gain voting rights 3 years after their membership acceptance date.
Exception: the initial non-voting period will not apply to new member pipe bands at least 60% of whose pipers and drummers have transferred from a current member pipe band or from a former member pipe band disbanded 6 months or less before the creation of the new member pipe band.
Minimum numbers: Member pipe bands will have voting rights as long as they have the minimum number of fully equipped active performers required for Association membership eligibility. Should their number of pipers and drummers ever fall below this minimum, they will lose their voting rights – while retaining all other rights and obligations – until they regain minimum numbers. This clause will only be waived if the member pipe band presents evidence – dated within the same member registration period – of training at least the amount of new pipers and/or drummers it needs to regain its minimum numbers.
