Solo Drumming - Compete with piping recordings

Solo drumming competitors may optionally compete with the audio recording of a piper playing in the background (in lieu of a live piper).

• There can be no drums (that of the competition) playing on the recording:

  • Tenor and bass drummers may optionally compete with snare drummer(s), live or recorded.

  • Snare drummers may optionally compete with tenor and/or bass drummer(s), live or recorded.

• The competitor is responsible for providing play-back equipment. The volume of the audio play-back must be comparable to that of a live piper (or live piper on practice chanter, for practice pad competitions).

• In the case of failure of the play-back equipment during the performance, the competitor will be required to play as if the equipment providing the accompaniment were operating. Failure to do so will be considered a breakdown.

• For remote competitions, the sound track cannot be added by video editing.
