Ronald Mac Kenzie

Roland started Highland Dancing in SAPA as a Sapito in 1979

Switched to drumming in 1986 and ended up taking up the bagpipes in 1990.

He has been Pipe Major of SAPA between 1998 and 2003, and from 2023 up to the present, and has had several spells as Sergeant Piper in between.

With SAPA he won the SPBASA Cup in 2015 and 2017.

In 2024 he earned the third place in Grade 3B at the World Pipe Band Championship with the Pan-European Cross Borders Pipe Band, led by PM Björn Heuckeroth.

Ronald has competed as a soloist in many South American competitions, winning both the Shamrock Cup (Montevideo, Uruguay) and the SAPA Cup (Buenos Aires, Argentina), as well as multiple placings in throughout the Remote Solo Competitions.

In 2025 he won the overall Grade 3 CLASP, organized by the National Piping Centre (Glasgow, Scotland).

Ronald became SPBASA's Music Officer in December 2025.
