The RSPBA and the City of Glasgow held the 2010 WPBC on August 17, with a record-breaking of over 8000 pipers, drummers and drum majors, cheered by 53000 supporters, and approximately the same number of online worldwide viewers thanks to BBC Scotland's live stream broadcasting.

St. Laurence O' Toole Pipe Band (Dublin, Ireland) won the championship  for the 1st time by giving a truly outstanding performance .  The until-then reigning pipe band Simon Fraser University (Vancouver, Canada) gave way to two more contenders: Field Marshall Montgomery (Northern Ireland) and Boghall and Bathgate Caledonia (Edinburgh, Scotland).  See all the results.

BBC Scotland has published all the video footage for the Grade 1 contest, including Bob Worrall's enriching commentaries.

A phenomenal day in the pipe band history!
